Gift Terms of Service
This page describes how gift cards added to GreetPool greeting cards work, including how they are delivered, the processing fee, how contributions are handled, our privacy commitments, and the refund policy. By adding a gift card to a GreetPool card, you agree to these terms in addition to our Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.
How gift cards are delivered
When you add a gift card to your GreetPool card, the gift is fulfilled by Giftbit, an established gift card delivery platform (giftbit.com). At the scheduled greeting card delivery time, the recipient's card becomes available to claim. GreetPool delivers a secure claim link to the recipient and issues the gift card through Giftbit when the recipient claims it. Depending on how the gift was set up, the recipient either receives the specific gift card the organizer chose or selects from a set of options when they claim, and then redeems it through Giftbit.
Brand selection, delivery, and redemption are provided by Giftbit and the brand you choose, and are subject to the Giftbit Terms of Service and the terms of the selected brand, which are disclosed to the recipient at the time of redemption. The available brands and redemption options are set by Giftbit and may change without notice. GreetPool is not responsible for the availability, terms, or performance of any brand or of the Giftbit service.
Currency
Gift cards are issued in US Dollars (USD). If you pay with an international payment method, your bank may apply a foreign exchange fee.
Processing fees
A flat processing fee is added to each contribution to cover secure payment handling. The fee is based on the contribution amount:
- $0.50 for contributions from $1.00 to $10.00
- $1.00 for contributions from $10.01 to $25.00
- $1.50 for contributions from $25.01 to $50.00
- $2.00 for contributions from $50.01 to $100.00
- $2.50 for contributions of $100.01 and above
The processing fee is shown to you before you confirm payment. The processing fee is non refundable in all cases, including cancellations, because it covers payment handling costs that are not returned to us when a payment is reversed. A cancellation refund returns your contribution amount only, not the processing fee.
Solo and group gifts
The card creator (organizer) sets up the gift and chooses how it is funded. A solo gift is funded entirely by the organizer. A group gift lets other signers chip in, and the amounts are pooled into a single gift card for the recipient.
When contributions are open on a group gift, each signer can add their own amount. Each contribution is between $1.00 and $500.00. Contributions are pooled and cannot be refunded to an individual contributor once made. To close contributions early and prepare the gift for delivery, contact us at [email protected].
Free greeting card with a qualifying group gift
GreetPool currently offers a free greeting card when you create a group gift and the gift amount meets or exceeds a qualifying minimum. The qualifying minimum is set by GreetPool, and the amount that applies is shown to you at checkout before you pay.
This offer applies to group gifts only, where other signers can contribute. Solo gifts do not qualify, regardless of the gift amount. The offer waives the standard greeting card fee only; it does not change the gift amount, the processing fee, or any applicable taxes. Like our other offers, it is provided at our discretion, and we may change or withdraw the qualifying amount, or the offer itself, at any time. The terms that apply are those shown to you at the time you check out.
Privacy of contributions
Individual contribution amounts are visible only to the organizer who created the card. Recipients see the total gift amount and the number of contributors, but never individual amounts. Contributor names are not shown to the recipient.
Refunds and cancellation
Contributions are pooled into a single gift and are not refundable to individual contributors. A gift can be cancelled only before it is issued and only in full. Cancellation requests are handled by our support team at [email protected]. If a gift is cancelled, we refund each contributor their contribution amount, less the non refundable processing fee, to the original payment method; refunds may take several business days to appear. Once a gift card has been claimed and issued, it cannot be cancelled or refunded for any reason. Issued gifts are governed by the redemption terms of Giftbit and the selected brand, including any expiration, and GreetPool does not provide refunds for gifts that are not redeemed. See Issuance timing below for what happens if a gift is never claimed.
Issuance timing
Gift cards are issued when the recipient claims the gift from their card, not at the time the greeting card is delivered. If a gift is not claimed within 365 days of delivery, it expires and the contributed amount is donated to a charity of our choice. Expired gifts cannot be claimed or refunded.
If issuance fails for a reason outside your control, for example if the chosen brand becomes unavailable, the greeting card is still delivered and we work to resolve the gift separately. If we are unable to issue the gift, we will refund each contributor their contribution amount.
Organizer responsibilities
The organizer is responsible for making sure the recipient details are correct and that the gift amount and brand are appropriate. GreetPool is not responsible for losses arising from incorrect recipient information provided by the organizer.
